heart

from your heart come two lines that arc in perfection and meet again at some destined center place. place your fingers back to back just before your lips and slide them like swans necks up and flow down until the base of the palms touch right here, just below the breast. allow your hands to form a loving cup until the orb appears, this is your glowing heart. you are plasma, you are golden, you are frozen sunlight kept here only by will and a certain fear of not living full enough before dying. fear is one strand of your heart, the right line which never flows as smoothly to it’s sacred destination. it is the reluctant swan being courted by the glowing doom of communion, that forever and seasonal bond clasping it to earth and nest.

i see in you such hope! and brash perfection. even your scar tells a story for the ages of how a young man almost but by the grace of fate became a living death. i see you younger still, barely filled in by time, lovingly gifting my child’s heart a piece of gold shaped with laced wings. i see your secret, and your shame. in all your present power you are him still, and i am awe. i have so little to give back but my love! you call me to you and ask me to please stand by your side, please love you forever while you place me on the train, while my plane touches the sky and you wave me goodbye again.

you are the most beautiful thing i know. you are perfection and a broken child whose hand i can't hold only because you love me so! let me kiss your palms and rub oils into your hurting fingers. let me soothe the raw where all your prayer can’t ease the tension: it’s oozed from your body to your very edges and you can’t shake it free, it clings to you, your teeth nibble thoughtlessly. let me touch your back with the warm flats of my hands and ease you to sleep, let me kiss your stubbled cheek that loving kiss of grace and don’t flinch or shy away. my hugs won’t hurt you, my embrace won’t strangle all your wisdoms. you clutch your pillow at night, your comfort.

i am perfection breathing in all the reality of you. i see that you are me, and that i am afraid. i will hold your hand, my love, and like two perfect arcs we’ll meet right here, in the middle of our bursting lonely godly human hearts.
